TRANSITION IN FALLπŸπŸ‚

I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure have been feeling down and out lately. I have lost my energy and my motivation for the day. While the show of Fall colours has been spectacular, a sense of darkness has been falling on me. With the move into Fall, there comes a reduction of sunlight, longer darkness, lower serotonin levels and an uncertainty about change and the transition heading into Winter. You can feel the change in the air.

I am trying very hard not to let myself get into that darkness and to sink into the despair. Remember that it is a time to embrace the cycle of Nature. Now is a great time for letting go and for releasing things that have been a burden for you and for your life. Now is a great time for introspection and for self-reflection. Embrace the transition and the change. And get to know your own cycles. Life is not just full of light and joy. I remind myself that now is a great time to learn to balance the light and the dark in myself and in my life. Instead of falling into depression or despair, allow yourself to acknowledge the dark things, the not-so-great things in your life and move through them. Be realistic about both good and bad in yourself, your life and the world today. Find your balance.

Here are some ideas to help you to find your balance during this Autumn Equinox:

  • Clear energy and clear your space – spend some time clearing your clutter and cleaning your home and space. Smudge your home and space with sage, palo santo or sweetgrass. White sage is particularly popular to cleanse your space. Remove yourself from situations and from people that are causing you difficulty and that are not positive to you and your life.
  • Enjoy time decorating with Fall/Autumn items (red, yellow and orange ; colourful leaves; gourds & pumpkins; straw/hay/grains; bowl of apples; Fall flowers, etc.)
  • Read books about Autumn/Fall and the Celebration of Mabon (Celtic origins of the celebration of Nature’s bounty and the harvest. A time of balance, abundance and harmony.)
  • Take on a volunteer project. Decide upon an act of kindness to follow through with.
  • Journal how you are feeling & make a list of Gratitude (people and things that you are grateful for in your life).
  • Get outside. Take a nature walk. Be sure to connect with the outdoors and nature.
  • Take time to meditate and/or to practice yoga and stretches.
  • Create an Autumn Alter in your home – white candle for light and a darker candle to represent the darkness; use shades of yellow, orange and red in leaves, gourds and pumpkins & dried flowers; add Fall fruits, vegetables and grains; add crystals and stones or personal items such as photographs & handwritten intentions. Use this space for reflection and for setting intentions.
  • Be sure to check out & attend Fall fairs, markets and festivals
  • Create a list of Intentions & Affirmations to reach goals that you have.

Embrace the change & transition of Fall and in yourself & your life! πŸ‚πŸπŸŒΎπŸŒ»
