The Value of SELF CARE

YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
You want to keep yourself healthy & happy, and it is not selfish to want to take care of yourself. Please do not underestimate the value of Self Care.
SELF CARE or taking care of yourself means taking the time to do things that will improve your health physically, mentally, and spiritually. Studies have shown that self care reduces heart disease, stroke and cancer. Taking care of yourself improves self-confidence, increases your ability to be productive and, of course, improves your personal happiness. It is important in managing stress and anxiety, increasing your feelings of self-worth and improving your overall mental and emotional health. Taking good care of yourself in turn improves your relationships with others.
Here are most important aspects to taking care of yourself:
βœ”οΈ Eating Healthy
βœ”οΈ Maintaining a Regular Sleep Routine
βœ”οΈ Notice, enjoy and Spend time in Nature
βœ”οΈ Express Gratitude
And then, take steps every day to promote health and happiness in yourself. This can look different for everyone, and there are tons of ideas for how to achieve this. Here is a list of some good ideas:

Find or develop a new hobby or pick up again on a hobby that you have loved in the past. There are so many different activities that help you to release your creativity and to feel good about yourself. Life can get or be busy, but you need to take some time just for yourself. You need to recharge and to feel good while doing something that is your passion. It may hard at first to commit and to schedule in a bit of time for yourself, but soon you will thank yourself for following through on this. Place value on YOU. Time for YOU is as important as anything else in your life.

This is especially important now with the beginning of the cold and the snow. Winter is very hard on many people and the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or “Winter Blues” is a real reality for many. The colder and darker months can sap your energy, make you feel moody or depressed. Spend as much time in the sun as you can when it comes out, and ensure that you are really taking care of yourself to keep yourself healthy and happy throughout the Winter.

The most important person in your life is YOU. You cannot take care of or help others if you are not taken care of first. Ensuring that you practice good self care every day will allow you to improve all areas of your life and you will feel more in control of yourself and your life. You will be better able to cope with the many ups and downs that life throws at you. You will feel more balanced, and most importantly, you will find that more of your life is filled with happiness and a joy for living.
