❤️ LOVE

What is Love? What Herbals and Foods are associated with Love? Common questions I get asked a lot in Healing Circles and Sessions.

In my Anishnaabe Culture we have the Medicine Wheel Teachings that focuses on the Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional. Its like an evolutionary guide to look to throughout our Journey. To help us improve our health as we let go of old cycles and evolve into new paths.  Learning to listen to our own bodies and mindfulness of our own thoughts and patterns. A balance of learning to love ourselves so that we can get to a place in our Healing Journey where we can open our hearts to all including ourselves, without judgement or separation. This deep work helps open new doors to opening the heart and vibration of universal love with Oneness. Also learning to love our bodies again as our Ancestors of all cultures once did before we adopted this fast paced and processed lifestyle as normal and acceptable.

February is known as Love Month.

So I’ve focused Teachings with the Medicine Wheel around Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional Love. Including around Valentines Day.

I’ll include herbals and foods known for libido as well.

This is a basic guide to follow at your discretion and with mindfulness of your own health needs with your personal Practitioner. Or finding an open minded and knowledgeable Healer.

Physical

Lets talk a little vitality and libido.

Traditionally in Ayurvedic Medicine , Asparagus is high in Vitamin E increasing blood flow to sex organs. Also rich in potassium for healthy sex hormones. Other foods known are avocados,  bananas, oysters, salmon, nuts , pumpkin seeds, red meat, chili pepper and dark chocolate 75% or more. Herbals known to increase libido are maca root, chaga,  ashwagandha, epimedium( men), gingko biloba and some species of edible mushrooms. Choose organic and pesticide free for optimal health benefits.  Maca Root is ancient South American Medicine known for Vitality. Start a plan in small steps that resonates with you to increase physical activity to your health needs and increasing vitality.

Mental

Lots of practicing meditation and quieting of the mind. Our circulating thoughts can create anxiety and suppress unresolved shadow work in the form of insecurities, self limitations, emotional walls and loss of passion for self and others. Its understanding we are relearning to develop compassion for ourselves. Herbals and Foods in the Mental are figs, chaga, dark chocolate 75% or more, oily fish, rose petals, lemongrass, skullcap, lemon balm,  ashwagandha ( stress levels), CBD  full spectrum (naturally raising serotonin levels without a crash). Limit or stay away from alcohol as it increases depression.

Spiritual

Foods: strawberries, honey, beets, pomegranate, figs, dates

Herbals: cinnamon, rose petals, raw honey, hibiscus, oswego tea( Bee Balm), rose hips, chili pepper

In ancient South American Cultures like the Aztec and Mayan, it was common to receive pure cocoa , maca root,  chili pepper and some medicinal species of mushrooms in a Wedding Ceremony. Cocoa to this day is still considered Sacred in Indigenous Cultures. Not like the processed chocolate here in North America. Starting a Spiritual Love Journey of  Self should resonate with you and your spiritual passions. Practice going inwards on your self love journey in the Mental , Physical and Emotional.

Emotional

Alot of inwards, practice of the pause to understand our own reactions and triggers. The goal is to instill courage, genuine inner peace, unlearn old patterns and suppressed fears. Forgiveness , Grace , Compassion and Trust in the deep healing of Love. Forgiveness is a big one to cut cords and understand it doesn’t mean condoning. Its emotional liberation to stop feeding thoughts and fears no longer serving us that can keep emotional walls up and hypervigilance.  Spend balanced time in solitude and around like minded individuals open to growing in deep self love healing.

This Valentine’s, celebrate solo with friends or your partner. Its about connection , gentleness, passion and compassion. It doesn’t have to be mainstream or what everyone typically celebrates. Maybe make it Spiritual and the start of a new milestone of a Self Love Journey?

Try a Steak or Oily Fish dinner with a side of Asparagus, Beets or Avocado included somewhere in the meal.
